The name: ‘Oleastro’ derives from Latin Olea Europea Oleaster and Ancient Greek ởλέαστρο, the wild olive tree, a species still met in Cyprus.

Its people: Oleastro Enterprises Ltd. is the brainchild of Andreas and Lina Ellinas with the support of their children Daniel and Natalie.  Our friends call us ‘romantic fools’ for our love and devotion to the olive tree, the Mediterranean diet, and the island’s countryside that we consider the ‘heart’ of Cyprus.

Awards / Distinctions

 On March 9, 2007 Lina was presented the Award ‘Woman Entrepreneur of the year 2006’ of the Cyprus Federation of Business and Professional Women. She is also currently one of the five candidates for the Madame Figaro Award for Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2006.
 
 On June 12, 2006, the European SME day, the Cyprus Chambers of Commerce selected Oleastro Enterprises Ltd as an SME role model for its originality and constant innovation, for its contribution to sustainable rural development, and for its ability to use EU funds effectively.
 
 In 2005, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry selected Lina as one of the three role models of women entrepreneurs in male-dominated areas in Cyprus for the Eurochambers project “CHASE”, CHambers Against Stereotypes in Employment. 
 
 Furthermore, Lina was selected as a role model of a woman entrepreneur in a number of EU projects, such as EQUAL, the Greek RCEI (Research Center for Equality Issues) etc.
 
 In 2004, in an evaluation of Cyprus olive oils (‘Take Seven Extra Virgin Olive Oils in www.kypros-cyprus.com/food-drink.html), organic olive oil Oleastro was awarded as the only 5-star olive oil.
 
 Finally, Lina was also nominated for the award of Women’s Creativity in Rural Life – 2003. Her nomination reached the final short list.

On June 4, 2006, the Olive Park 'Oleastro' received the Award for Architectural Environment by the Green Party.
